MuteSounds started out as a graduation project of four cultural and social studies students at InHolland, the University of Applied Sciences in The Hague. It has now developed into a festival for the deaf, the hearing and hard of hearing, based around unique ways of stimulating the senses. MuteSounds will take place at the music venue Paard van Troje and cinema Filmhuis Den Haag.
Music
Each year MuteSounds surprises its visitors with unique ways of experiencing the emotion of music. Besides music, your senses are stimulated in other spectacular ways. A dance floor, which lets you feel the vibrations of the music. Music sign interpreters, who translate music into signs and dance. Theatre acts, dancers, interactive installations, as well as magnificent light shows and video projections. And to top it all off, MuteSounds will have a diverse and partially international line-up of the best DJs and live acts, making it an extraordinary and unique experience
Film
MuteSounds is all about experiencing film. Its film programme deals with current topics the target group can relate to. The films are suitable for the deaf, the hearing and the hard of hearing. Each are followed by interesting Q&As with the filmmakers, often deaf themselves. Interactive media installations will also be on display for visitors to check out and experience! The film programme will help visitors understand how deaf people perceive the world and use their imagination.
